88-year-old woman fatally struck by car while crossing Queens street


An 88-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car while crossing a Queens street on Sunday, police said.

Dolores Soho, of Queens, was hit at the intersection of 48th Avenue and Bell Boulevard about 1:35 p.m. by a Ford van being driven by a 60-year-old man, cops said.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was making a left turn onto Bell Boulevard when he hit the elderly victim, according to police.

The woman was taken to North Shore Manhasset Hospital and pronounced dead.

No charges were immediately brought against the driver. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
