Democrats quickly scrambled to spin the story.Ā
A Hashmi spokesperson called Reidās effort a ādeepfakeā and smeared it as a āTrump-style gimmick.āĀ
But that dodge only proved Reidās point: when Democrats are confronted with their own words, they hide behind buzzwords and insults.Ā
If Hashmi truly believed in her record, she would have had no problem showing up to debate it face-to-face. Instead, she left an empty podiumāand let technology do the talking.
Reid, for his part, explained that he asked Hashmi for an in-person debate several times, after both the governorās and attorney generalās debates were already held. She refused.Ā
āI finally said look, she can make up her own mind, but Iām going to host a debate,ā Reid explained.Ā
āWeāll use real quotes from her, nothing fake, nothing made up.ā Unlike Democrats who bend the truth, Reid insisted on honestyāeven when using cutting-edge tools.
