Arnold Schwarzenegger Mourns Charlie Kirk: ‘A Great Communicator’ Assassinated for Having a Different Opinion

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) reacted to the assassination of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, pointing out that a “human life is gone.”

During a discussion with University of Southern California (USC) Interim President Beong-Soo Kim, Schwarzenegger described Kirk as being a “great father” and a “great husband” who was also a “great advocate” for Republican and conservative causes, according to the Los Angeles Times. Schwarzenegger’s comments come after Kirk was fatally shot in the neck on Wednesday at Utah Valley University (UVU), while taking part in a Q&A with students.

“I was very, very upset that someone’s life was taken because they have a different opinion,” Schwarzenegger stated. “I mean, it’s just unbelievable. I mean, this was a great communicator, a great advocate for the right, for Republican causes.”

Schwarzenegger continued to highlight how Kirk had “such a great way of communicating” with students, even if they agreed or disagreed with him.

“And, I just thought, it’s a human being. A human life is gone. He was a great father, a great husband. I was thinking about his children — they will only be reading about him now, instead of him reading to them, bedtime stories,” Schwarzenegger continued.

Schwarzenegger continued to talk about how since Kirk’s assassination, there has been “endless amount of debates” about how to stop and prevent political violence, and pointed out that social media, the mainstream media, and both the Republican and Democrat parties are dividing Americans.

“We have to acknowledge that the cause of all of this is the social media companies that are dividing us. The mainstream media companies that are dividing us. The political parties, the Democrats that are dividing us. The Republicans that are dividing us,” Schwarzenegger said. “So, we’re getting hit from so many different angles.”

Breitbart News’s Paul Bois reported that celebrities such as Schwarzenegger, Schwarzenegger’s son-in-law Chris Pratt, pop star and actress Mandy Moore, and Candace Cameron Bure issued statements condemning the assassination of Kirk.

Lawmakers from both sides of aisle such as President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) have mourned the loss of Kirk and the loss of an advocate for free speech.

Trump, who has stated that he will be awarding Kirk, “posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” has also said that he will be attending Kirk’s funeral.
