Ike Turner Jr., the son of Tina Turner and Ike Turner Sr., has died at age 67, The Post can confirm.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” Tina’s niece, Jacquline Bullock, said in a statement to The Post. ‘”Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”
“As the son of Tina and Ike Turner, from an early age, his talents were evident as there wasn’t an instrument he did not want to play. While he favored the drums early on, my aunt and his mother, Tina Turner, insisted that he break down his drum kit after each practice. This led him to favor the keys. Eventually, Junior would end up helping to run Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studios founded by his father, Ike Turner,” the statement continued.
“While he faced the same challenges that many of us have, he would become a sought after sound engineer, musician, and Grammy winner for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2007 for his father’s ‘Risin’ With The Blues,’” Bullock added.
At the end of the statement, Bullock said, “We, as a family, appreciate the outpouring of condolences and request privacy at this time.”
Bullock did not reveal a cause of death, though TMZ reported Ike Jr. died of kidney failure.
Ike Jr. was born in 1958 to Ike Sr. and his ex, Lorraine Taylor. Tina, who was married to Ike Sr. from 1962 to 1978, adopted Ike Jr. when he he was young.
“Tina raised me from the age of 2. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,” Ike Jr. told the Daily Mail in 2018, adding that he was “raised by housekeepers because my mother and father were gone 11 months out of a year.”
Ike Jr. followed in his parents’ footsteps as a musician after his dad took him out of school at 13 to tour with him.
“I ended up running his recording studio, plus going on the road with them,” Ike Jr recalled to Daily Mail. “They made a lot of money on tour and my father used to make me count it until my hands were grey.”
Ike Jr. later produced his father’s 2006 album “Risin’ With The Blues” which won them the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Ike Jr. had an up-and-down relationship with both of his parents. In 2018, he told Daily Mail he hadn’t spoken to Tina in over a decade.
“I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when — probably around 2000,” he shared. “My mother is living her life — she has a new husband and she’s in Europe. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with the past.”
Ike Jr. claimed in that same interview that his father — who died of a cocaine overdose in 2007 — “beat me in the head with a nickel-plated .45 pistol” for briefly working as Tina’s sound engineer when the couple divorced in 1978.
In May 2023, Ike Jr. was arrested in Texas and charged with crack cocaine possession and tampering with evidence just weeks before Tina’s death.
The Alvin, Texas, police department told People pulled Ike Jr. over at a traffic light for an equipment violation, claiming his headlight or taillight was out. Officers then noticed Ike Jr. attempting to consume narcotics that were in his possession, and they subsequently confiscated 1.7 grams of crack cocaine and .7 grams of methamphetamine.
Ike Jr. was ultimately sentenced to jail 18 days before Tina died at age 83.

Ike Jr. had multiple siblings, including brothers Raymond Craig Turner, Michael Turner and Ronald “Ronnie” Turner, and sister Mia Turner.
Ronnie died of complications from colon cancer at age 62 in Dec. 2022, less than six months before Tina’s passing.
