Katy Perry talks ‘losses’ and being ‘tested’ after Orlando Bloom split and album backlash in emotional post
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Katy Perry penned a deeply personal post on Monday reflecting on the past ‘rollercoaster’ year in honor of the first anniversary of her latest album, 143.
Speaking directly to her fans, whom she lovingly refers to as ‘KatyCats,’ the Teenage Dream hitmaker, 40, touched on her ‘wins’ as well as the ‘losses’ she’s experienced since the album’s release in a lengthy Instagram post.
She also spoke about being ‘beloved, tested and tried’ over span of her nearly 20-year music career and how ‘proud’ she is of herself for persevering.
143 was expected to be a major pop comeback for Perry, but the rollout was plagued by controversy after it was revealed that Dr. Luke, who Kesha accused of sexual assault in 2014, was among the album’s producers.
The lead single, Woman’s World, was largely considered a ‘flop’ as it failed to crack the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 while 143 became Metacritic’s lowest scoring album in 13 years when it debuted in September 2024.
The backlash didn’t end there for Perry. In April, she was criticized for participating in the first, all-female Blue Origin space trip with Lauren Sanchez just weeks before embarking on her Lifetimes Tour, where she faced flack for her ‘mom moves’ on stage.
Perry’s personal life also took a hit as it was confirmed in July that her six-year engagement to Orlando Bloom, 48, had ended. They share daughter Daisy Dove, five.
And the Grammy nominee addressed the ‘incredible impact this last year has had’ on her in Monday’s IG post after ‘reflecting’ on how 143 brought her and her fans closer together.

Along with facing backlash in her professional life, it was confirmed in July that Perry and her longtime fiance Orlando Bloom had split after nine years together; seen in March 2025
‘You KCs know I’m not one for anniversary posts,’ Perry began. ‘I tend to be mostly a futurist but it would be negligent of me to not acknowledge the incredible impact this last year has had on me.
‘1 year ago, 143 came out and I took the weekend to reflect. Records are snapshots of an artist trying to tell their story of where they are now or have been, and hope someone will hear themselves in some of the messages.’
Perry explained that 143 was her way of saying ‘I love you to [her] fans.’

But after reflecting on the experience, the singer now realizes that the album ‘has been all about reconnecting to my fans through these songs and through this wonderful tour that has given me the opportunity to see so many of you again and for the first time.
‘We cats (and rats) have been through a rollercoaster, but wherever the ride took us, we have been together. I am so proud of the community we are and growing to become. History is important, we learn from history, we are reminded of how to and what not to do when we look back.
‘We celebrate the wins and reflect on the losses. All of it is valuable. Let’s hope we get to evolve together for years to come and at the end of it all be proud and at peace with how we tried our best in this imperfect world,’ Perry continued.

Along with her heartfelt words, the mother-of-one included a slideshow of photos and videos taken over the past year
Perry then candidly confessed that she often questions if she ‘loves’ herself but that she is ‘proud of where and how I have landed in this moment.’
‘I have been seeing 341 which has me thinking now after giving so much… do I love myself, finally? Well, I get the opportunity to answer that question anew every day. Today’s answer is yes. I am proud of where and how I have landed in this moment,’ she wrote.
‘Proud of myself, proud of my fans and proud that I keep on swinging. Wrapping up the South American leg once again reminded me of what’s real. There’s no coincidence I would be doing that exactly one year from when I put out the album and played Rock In Rio in Brazil.’
Perry then spoke about her time in the spotlight and how she’s ‘blessed’ to have learned that ‘there’s always two sides to each coin.’
‘Through my years in the spotlight, I have been beloved, tested and tried. That’s the journey. I am blessed to know that there’s always two sides to each coin, and I learn that even when I hit tails, somehow through it all, I keep making my wishes.’
Perry continued her message to fans in the comment section of Tuesday’s Instagram post, where she revealed she is not ‘forcing’ or ‘controlling’ what comes next for her career-wise and, instead, putting her faith in ‘the angels, the fans, and the music.’
‘My best friend once gave me a framed 19th century book called What Katy Did Next. I’ve never read it, but the title has always stuck with me. That’s the point – it’s about continuing to move forward, and dream.
‘Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally. No forcing, no controlling – just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go. Please know this: my love for you is unconditional, and I couldn’t do any of this without you.

‘Excited to continue the celebration in the UK, Europe, and Asia and hey, 143 & 341. LOVE, Katy,’ Perry concluded.
Along with her heartfelt words, the mother-of-one included a slideshow of photos and videos taken during the lead-up to 143’s September 2024 release as her ongoing Lifetimes tour and other behind-the-scenes moments from the past year.
One of the images showed Perry with a bloodied, cutup face on the set of the Woman’s World music video, which came out in July 2024.
Perry received an outpouring of love and support from many of her industry pears, with several praising her ‘resilience.’
However, many of Perry’s were left saddened by her words but they also applauded her for her ‘vulnerability.’
‘Yall really hurt her 🙁 happy that she can stay positive and constructive about 143 and her perception in the public eye,’ penned one KatyCat on X (formerly Twitter).
Perry’s post comes just weeks after her ex-fiance Bloom broke his silence on their shocking 2025 split.
The former couple first became romantically linked in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes after-party. They dated until 2017 before briefly splitting up and getting back together in 2018.
Bloom proposed to Perry Valentine’s Day 2019 and they welcomed their only child, daughter Daisy Dove, in August 2020.

Rumors of a split began to surface in June 2025, with the couple confirming the news the following month.
A representative for the couple told DailyMail at the time: ‘Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.’
While on the Today show earlier this month, Bloom shared for the first time how he was handling the recent ‘personal changes’ in his life.
‘We’re great. We’re going to be great. Nothing but love,’ he said of the breakup.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star also touched on their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy.
‘We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it,’ he said.
He added, ‘I’m great, man. I’m so grateful.’
